Summer fun Bonsai Table

Post  Greg on Thu Jul 17, 2014 6:29 pm

Since the hot weather is not allow any work on trees, I exercise my skills on carpentry.
This is my latest project, a bonsai table. 50 cm in length. Still needs some varnish.
I hope you like it.

A few words how I made the table…..
First I bought a a big plank of samba wood, the plank was approximately 32cm x245cm x 3,2cm. I bought it for 17 euros and is enough for 3-5 tables depents from size.
The plank first passed through a wood planner then cut it in smaller pieces using a table saw. Having in mind the wood sizes I had , I start to design the table.
I found the following foto (the first one)from internet with structural patterns. The photo tranfered to Autocad and table designed on top of the photo. Once the drawing was completed using Autocad I made a real size print out. The print out/hard copy glued on wood pieces using temporary adhesive. A scroll saw used to cut in shape the table legs/sides and the edges/ borders of the top.
First the top(the inner part with borders) clued ,then a hand Router used to shape the top edges. Finaly the top clued to legs/sides and that’s it! Piece of cake!
