ole ole olea

Post  Greg on Fri Jun 03, 2011 6:46 pm

this is a relatively young olive tree collected last year. No New growth yet, but its alive! Actually its look very healthy, of course without leaves!

I have noticed that trees collected from certain area takes more than usually to start budding.
Therefore, I came to the conclusion that this phenomenon is due to the complete different substrate composition used after collection than the one used to be before. Any other information on this?? Or any advise how I will reduce the budding time?

Any styling ideas??

To be honest with you, all trees from this year's collecting period (autumn 2010-winter-early spring 2011) have sprouted ....even the ones we collected in May (!!!).
Personally, as stated in another post, for substrate, i use inorganic 80-85%, with the rest organic (sphagnum peat moss). The only thing i do this year, is the use of Rhizotonic solution every few days.
i do not know how much this works, but i suspect that it has to do with the fact that trees sprouted much faster and much stronger this year since they managed to grow a good root system.

Here is a quick proposal for styling......
